Regional Development Australia - QLD Committee Appointments
|
|
The Australian and Queensland governments have today announced Committee members, Chairs and Deputy Chairs for the 12 Queensland Regional Development Australia (RDA) committees. Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Maxine McKew, and State Minister for Rural and Regional Queensland, Tim Mulherin, congratulated the 123 appointees. "RDA QLD Committees will be a local voice for communities across Queensland," said Ms McKew. "RDA QLD is a new partnership between the Australian and Queensland governments and, for the first time, local leaders will give formal input to both governments on regional issues." "I look forward to working with all RDA QLD committee members on regional development issues close to their communities. "The Rudd Labor Government is listening to regional communities right across the country. "We have cushioned communities from the effects of the global economic recession and are supporting jobs on the ground through our Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan, which now includes more than $1 billion in spending through our Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP)." "This investment is being delivered where it matters most - in every local government area." Mr Mulherin said RDA would also assist government agencies to focus their work on local priorities. "Exceptional members of the community have been selected for these important roles - individuals with a strong understanding of their regions who are dedicated to their local communities," Mr Mulherin said. "All of them bring a range of skills and expertise to their role and have offered their services in a voluntary capacity." A full list of appointments is available at www.rda.gov.au Media Contacts
