EXPANSION OF AIR SERVICES ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE PHILIPPINES Australia and The Philippines have agreed to new air services arrangements, opening the way for expanded services on the routes between our two countries. Under the new arrangements, Australian and Philippine airlines are now able to offer up to 4,000 seats each way per week between major Australian destinations (Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and/or Sydney) and Manila and/or Clark in the Philippines. Over time, and in response to demand, the new limit can be increased to 6,000 seats.  Previously, the limit was 2,500 seats too low to satisfy current demand. To encourage airlines to serve our important regional destinations, Australian and Philippine airlines can now operate unlimited services to regional airports. Last year, over 313,000 people travelled between Australia and The Philippines. Of course, any new services to be introduced will need to meet Australias strict aviation security and safety requirements. These arrangements are a further example of the Australian Government pursuing the liberalisation of international aviation to the benefit consumers, the Australian tourism industry and Australian carriers.
