DARWIN AIRPORT TERMINAL EXPANSION APPROVED

Today I have approved the proposed $60 million expansion to Darwin Airport's terminal. The proposed expansion includes improved security screening; an expanded retail precinct; separate baggage and arrival areas for domestic and international flights; extra boarding gates to allow the simultaneous boarding and disembarking of passengers; additional car parking spaces; and a dedicated goods delivery area. Darwin International Airport's proposed concept design incorporates three levels:
The project is consistent with the current Darwin International Airport Master Plan. The number of passengers transiting through the Airport is expected to increase from 1.9 million to over 4 million by 2030.
