Minister Albanese and Finance and Deregulation Minister, Penny Wong, announce the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal is to proceed. The facility, linked by rail to Port Botany, is set to take 3,300 trucks off Sydney roads every day and create thousands of jobs for the region.

Mr Albanese told the gathered media it's anticipated 1,650 full time jobs will be created during construction of the Moorebank Terminal, and a further 1,700 people could be employed in the Liverpool region once the project is up and running.

The Green Square trigeneration project will deliver an energy efficient system for generating electricity which simultaneously provides heating and cooling. It is twice as energy efficient as coal-fired power stations. The Liveable Cities program is part of the Governments efforts to make the nation's major cities more productive, sustainable and liveable.

Commuters along the F5 in Sydney are now experiencing quicker, less frustrating driving conditions following the upgrade and widening of the section between Brooks and Narellan roads. Mr Albanese was joined by NSW Member for Camden, Chris Patterson, to mark completion of the $116 million project on-time and within budget.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Minister Albanese joined the Transport Workers' Union Safe Rates team to mark the passing through Parliament of the Road Safety Remuneration Bills, and the establishment of the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal from 1 July 2012, ensuring that truck drivers and other road users have the safest possible conditions on our roads.

Minister Albanese and WA Transport Minister, Troy Buswell, were joined by officials onsite in Esperance to turn the first sod of a $120 million project which will improve access to its rapidly expanding port, untangling the road and rail connections to the Port by realigning Harbour Road and replacing two existing level crossings with overpasses.

Mr Albanese and Member for OConnor, Tony Crook, have a cuppa and discuss federal funding for the planning and scoping study for the PortLink Inland Freight Corridor Plan, which if given the final go ahead would establish Kalgoorlie as a hub linking together the ports of Port Hedland, Fremantle, Esperance, Geraldton and the proposed Oakajee facility.

Mr Albanese was in North Lakes to mark the milestone call for tenders to design and build two of the three road bridges associated with the $1.15 billion Moreton Bay Rail Link. The Moreton Bay Rail Link—first mooted more than a century ago in 1895—will ultimately stretch 12.6 kilometres connecting the Redcliffe Peninsula to Petrie.
